IEA-EBC Annex 79 Meeting virtually in Southampton

From 4/20–4/23 over 100 scientist from around the world met virtually for the Annex79 expert meeting. This meeting was supposed to be in Beijing, and was relocated to Southamption, UK. However, given the current pandemic and travel restrictions, the meeting had to be held virtually. The organizers did an outstanding job and the Symposium and expert meetings went vert smoothly. We missed the coffee breaks and dinners, but got a lot done 🙂

Our awesome students June and Kinglsey delivered fantastic presentation. IEL is also co-leading subtask 4 in which we organize case studies on occupant-centric control of buildings.

About Us

The Intelligent Environments Laboratory (IEL), led by Prof. Zoltán Nagy, is an interdisciplinary research group within the Building Energy & Environments (BEE) and Sustainable Systems (SuS) Programs of the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) in the Cockrell School of Engineering of the University of Texas at Austin.

The aim of our research is to rethink the built environment and define Smart Buildings and Cities as spaces that adapt to their occupants and reduce their energy consumption.

We combine data science with building science and apply machine learning to the building and urban scale
